I would not doubt any sort of spicy food helps burn calories, for some reason the body likes to sweat when it comes to eating spicy foods.

Yes, you are right Ron. smile Capsaicin is found to be very effective in fighting cancer. It is found to destroy cells affected with leukemia and counters their further growth.

lol @ spherical....You are right buddy.. raspberry

However, i cannot disagree with Ron & Cindy, as their logic is based on facts. I have also found that Capsaicin, which is found in chili peppers, being a natural occurring antioxidant, helps in tackling diseases that are caused by toxins.

Good one Spherical. Still, here discussing the imperative benefits might help others in increasing their knowledge in this regard. Still, a banter from you is refreshing for all of us, cos you are also one of those, who are packed with knowledge...

In the morning itself, I came across a report of a medical survey that has found people having chili peppers to have less number of deaths due to cancer than those people, who do not take chili peppers in their food. So add chili peppers to your food and stay hale and hearty.

I've noticed this without even reading any articles on this, so it's true!

It works somehow by having a close link to your metabolism. The pepper, when ingested makes you squiggle around more because of this metabolic activity in your body=calorie burn

The research on TRPV1 receptors (involved in pain, thermosensing, energy expenditure, neurotransmitter control, beta cell function*, etc) is fascinating recently, they are present in many tissues in the body and research suggests that activation by capsaicin, for example, could improve digestion, increase hair growth, improve skin plasticity, increase plasma IGF-1 (which may not necessarily be good long term), and certain cognitive functions which are still conflicting. Course, supplementation could possibly negatively manipulate also.

I bet we will see drugs developed to selectively manipulate them in the future, for diabetics for example.
